NO DRIVING BLUES WITH FORD FIGO BLU

If Ford invited you to drive one of its cars to attend Idols SA as one of its VIP guests at The South African State Theatre, would you say no? I wouldn’t either!

Without hesitation, I jumped in to pick up my girls in the new Ford Figo Blu and headed to the City of Tshwane because a ride alone wouldn’t have been so fun. First things first, Figo Blu’s exterior is inviting! It is adorned with a black mesh grille, accented fog lamps with blue bezels; black multi-spoke 15-inch alloy wheels, black mirrors, fascinating decals and, its black roof caught my eyes almost every time.

Driving and Riding Comfort

Some small cars actually make you feel like you’re driving a small car, but not Figo Blu. Its interior has that big-car sophistication thing you get when driving. It provides enough legroom in the front and back. The boot space? Not so big. The driver’s seat is comfortable, I just experienced a little glitch whenever I opened the driver’s window – it couldn’t open instantly. It has a driving appeal, it is smooth on the road and it is as quiet as a fly landing on a feather duster. It provides a lot of comfort and makes for an easy ride. One can easily tell it is good enough for travelling long distances. Talking about long distances; what would a road trip be without some stereo for a little company?

 Interior and Entertainment

Figo Blu’s interior is appealing and almost everything on the dashboard is within easy reach. The built-in Ford Audio is provided with integrated four speakers and incorporates Bluetooth connectivity, a USB slot and a unique Device Dock in the upper section of the centre console to connect and power up smartphones. This made our trip fun and entertaining as we played Amapiano on blast while singing along like little kids! For a car that is as beautiful as a picture, I expected the centre console to be a touchscreen, using the controls manually to figure out how the buttons and switches work was a minute tutorial but, it was easy. To be safe, learn how everything works before driving off to ensure you avoid distractions and remain safe on the road. Talking about safety, both the driver and passenger in the front are equipped with airbags and there are ABS brakes to make it easier for the car to stop in case of emergencies.

Figo Blu is also fitted with central locking, perimeter anti-theft alarm and an immobiliser – giving you the peace you need when walking way after parking. Another feature that gives one peace of mind is the fuel-efficiency that makes your money stretch until maybe…month end? Of course, depending on where you’re driving to!

My girls and I were happy to sit back and enjoy the comfort of Ford Figo Blu’s ride. We arrived at the State Theatre and returned to the City of Gold in one piece. Also, we enjoyed watching the Idols SA Top 5 contestants perform live on stage.
